The Game

Meet Opalfall

·Alex — The Crux Studios

A quick, honest rundown of what Opalfall actually is.

Break light from stone

At its core, Opalfall is a block puzzle you play with your thumb. Colored light is locked inside stone; you break the stone, the light comes free, colors chain together, and the board clears in cascades. Easy to pick up, and satisfying to get good at.

Ten elemental worlds

The journey runs through ten worlds, each built around its own element and color — lava, waves, and on from there. They aren’t reskins: each world is meant to play a little differently from the last, and getting that right is a big part of what I’m working on now. Clear all ten and the game opens up well beyond them.

A companion and a bit of story

You’re not out there alone — a little companion named Roy rides along, and there’s a quiet story threaded through it: a shattered light, ten scattered worlds, a home you’ve never seen. You can follow the thread or just break blocks. Both are fine.

What it isn’t

No punishing timers, no energy meters, no pop-ups interrupting you for coins. It’s cozy and casual up front, with a real climb in the higher worlds. The aim is simple: it should feel good to play.

Opalfall is coming to iOS and Android. It’s built by one developer, it’s close to done, and I’ll be posting weekly updates here on the way to launch.
