Opalfall

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how The Crux Studios (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you play Opalfall (the “Game”) or visit opalfall.com (the “Site”). Opalfall has no accounts and no login — apart from an email address you choose to give us (for support or our newsletter), everything we collect is anonymous and tied to your device, not to your identity. By using the Game or Site you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

2. How we use information

3. Advertising & third-party services

The Game uses the following third-party services, which may receive data as described above:

On Apple devices we request permission via App Tracking Transparency before any cross-app tracking, and in applicable regions we show a consent prompt for personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see ads, but non-personalized ones. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.

4. Analytics & crash reporting

We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand engagement in aggregate and to diagnose crashes. This data is keyed to an anonymous app-instance identifier, not to your identity. You can turn this off at any time using the Analytics toggle in the Game's Settings, which stops both analytics and crash-reporting collection.

5. Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time in the Game's Settings or in your device settings.

6. The Site

opalfall.com is a static informational site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool, to measure aggregate traffic — such as page views, referrers, and visitor country. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint or track you across sites, and collects no personal information. Our host may also log standard technical request data (such as IP address) for security and delivery, subject to its own privacy practices.

If you sign up for launch updates on the Site, we collect your email address to send you launch news and occasional updates about Opalfall. We use Buttondown, a newsletter service, to store the list and send those emails. Subscribing requires a confirmation click (double opt-in), your address is used for nothing else and is never sold, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing — or emailing us — removes your address from the list.

7. Children's privacy

Opalfall is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf (advertising, analytics, crash reporting, push delivery, and app-store distribution), or where required by law, or to protect our rights and users' safety.

9. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide and improve the Game and for legitimate business or legal purposes, then delete or anonymize it. Progress and settings stored on your device are removed when you delete the Game.

10. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can also opt out of analytics in Settings, decline personalized ads at the consent prompt, and reset your advertising identifier in your device settings. To exercise your rights, email hello@opalfall.com.

11. Security

All data the Game transmits is encrypted in transit. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers (Google and Apple) operate, and which may have different data protection laws. We rely on these providers' safeguards for such transfers.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
